Built from the 1950s to 1990s, monuments to commemorate the victims of world war two were commissioned by various member states and towns of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. After the wars in the 1990s, many monuments were neglected. Even so, over 2000 of these structures can be found in all the countries that once made up Yugoslavia.
